1) What is your role at Pantheon, and what does a typical day look like for you?

I have had many roles while at Pantheon. From Project Lead for our largest projects during the “infancy” of the company to my current role as a Cost Estimating SME

supporting the AUKUS program developing and refining cost estimates for SEA05C10.

But if someone were to ask me what I do, I like to say that I’m a problem solver. Most of

what I do isn’t a “text book” cost estimating or financial problem so I have to use a wide

range of hard, soft, and common sense skills to deliver for our customers.

2) How did your educational experiences set you up for success at Pantheon?

I received a B.S. in Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) with a Minor in Business

at Virginia Tech. The ISE Program at Virginia Tech is a great educational background to

prepare you for a job at Pantheon. In fact, I have worked with many fellow Virginia Tech

ISE grads throughout my career (including my current customer at SEA05C10). Cost Estimating involves a broad range of skills including engineering, math, finance, economics, technical writing, etc. and these are all skills that are part of the ISE plus

Business Minor curriculum at Virginia Tech.

3) What’s been your proudest accomplishment at Pantheon so far?

I’m most proud of the groundwork I helped lay while leading the PMS 450 Support team

during the early years of the company which was a time of such growth, development, and stability for that team. During my 3 years of leading that team, we doubled our team size (with a very low attrition rate). Most of us had never supported a Navy Submarine program, and we were able to come together to deliver high quality products and support for our customer while establishing the foundation for the continued success we are having still today.

4) What skill or strength do you bring to your team that you’re most proud of?

There are 2 skills/strengths that I’m most proud of:

  1. The ability to connect with people. There’s an old sports saying “It’s not about the X’s and O’s, it’s about the Jimmys and the Joes”. Although not a direct translation to work, I believe most of business is and always will be about relationships so you better be able to deal/relate with people no matter how good your “X’s and O’s” are.

  2. The ability to problem solve. If I could recommend one skill to develop as a young person, it’s to have a problem solver mindset. I’ll never claim to know everything but I know I can figure anything out.

5) What motivates you outside of work?

My family is 100% my motivation outside of work. If I’m not working, I’m spending time with my family. With other hobbies and interest I have, I try to incorporate those activities into family outings/events.

6) What’s your favorite place in DC to grab a bite or relax?

My favorite lunch spot near the office is La Famosa! What advice would you give to someone considering joining Pantheon? Develop a problem solver mindset. Don’t get fixated on what skills, knowledge, credentials, or qualifications you don’t have. Just be willing to figure it out!
